**In the app, tap the bell next to Subscribed on the channel's page or under one of its videos, and choose None.** YouTube's help is short about what that does: “None : You won't get any notifications from this channel” (*YouTube Help: Manage YouTube notifications (Android)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid). You stay subscribed, and the channel's uploads keep arriving in your Subscriptions feed. Only the alerts stop.

## On Android or iPhone

The Android and iPhone versions of YouTube's notifications article give the same four steps (*YouTube Help: Manage YouTube notifications (iPhone)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS):

1. Go to the channel page, or the watch page of one of its videos.
2. If you are not subscribed yet, tap **Subscribe**. YouTube turns on personalized notifications by itself when you do.
3. Next to **Subscribed**, tap the **Notification bell**.
4. Choose **All**, **Personalized** or **None**.

What the three mean, in YouTube's words from the Android page cited above:

- **All:** “You’ll get notifications for long-form uploads and live streams.” It may add some Shorts alerts too.
- **Personalized:** notifications “for some regular uploads, Shorts, and live streams”, and “The definition of "personalized" differs by user.” YouTube lists the signals it weighs, including how often you watch the channel and how often you open notifications.
- **None:** nothing from this channel.

## Several channels in one sitting

You do not have to visit each channel. Both phone versions of the article add a route through your list: go to the **Subscriptions** tab, tap **All** at the top right, then “Tap the Notification bell next to each channel to manage notifications” (*YouTube Help: Manage YouTube notifications (Android)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid). It is still one bell per channel. That page documents no switch that sets every channel to None at once.

## On a computer

The computer version is narrower. Its bell step reads: “Click the Notification bell to switch between getting “All notifications” and “Personalized notifications.”” None does not appear in that step, although the paragraph above it says “you can choose None if you don’t want notifications” (*YouTube Help: Manage YouTube notifications (computer)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop). If your browser offers only those two, the phone steps above are the documented way to reach None.

The same computer page covers two kinds of alert that the bell does not:

- **Email.** Under your profile picture › **Settings** › **Notifications**, “Under “Email notifications,” choose the types of email notifications you want to get.”
- **Chrome pop-ups.** In the same notification settings, “Under “Desktop notifications," click the button next to Chrome to turn notifications on or off.”

## When the bell is not the problem

- **Alerts from channels you do not follow.** These are a separate setting. YouTube says you “may get personalized recommended video notifications from channels you're not subscribed to”, and the off switch is profile picture › **Settings** › **Notifications** › **Recommended videos** (*YouTube Help: Manage YouTube notifications (iPhone)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS).
- **All of YouTube, everywhere.** The phone's own settings can silence the app as a whole. On Android: Settings › **Notifications** › **App notifications** › **All apps** › YouTube. On iPhone: Settings › **Notifications** › YouTube. Both routes are on the pages already cited, Android and iPhone respectively.
- **A bell you cannot change.** “You won't get notifications if a channel's audience is set as made for kids,” and its bell is fixed at no notifications: “You can't change this setting” (*YouTube Help: Manage YouTube notifications (computer)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop).
- **Alerts on All that went quiet anyway.** The Android page adds that if you chose All but “haven’t watched or engaged with the channel in a while”, its notifications show only inside the app, under the bell at the top right of Home. It also warns that “not every new upload will result in a notification” (same page as the first section).

## Turning off the bell does not clear the feed

Notifications and the Subscriptions feed are two systems. Under the heading “Difference between Notifications and Subscriptions Feed”, YouTube says the feed “will show any recently uploaded videos from your subscriptions”, whatever the bell is set to (*YouTube Help: Subscribe to YouTube channels (Android)*, read 15 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4489286?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid). So None quietens your phone but leaves a prolific channel just as visible in the feed. If that is the real annoyance, [why one channel floods your feed](https://channelsorter.com/answers/why-one-channel-floods-my-youtube-feed/) explains the numbers, and [hiding a channel on YouTube](https://channelsorter.com/answers/hide-a-channel-on-youtube/) covers what can and cannot be hidden.

If you want neither the alerts nor the uploads, the answer is to leave the channel: [how to unsubscribe from a YouTube channel](https://channelsorter.com/answers/unsubscribe-from-a-youtube-channel/). Should you come back later, expect to set the bell again. The computer page says re-subscribing resets it “to personalized or no notifications”.
