# Does a YouTuber know if I unsubscribe from their channel? — Adinand Channel Sorter

**Not by name, as far as YouTube's documentation goes: creators see numbers, and the one list of subscribers they get leaves private subscribers out entirely.** YouTube's creator help says a subscriber shows on a channel's recent subscribers list only if “They chose to make their subscriptions public” and “They subscribed to your channel in the last 28 days” (*YouTube Help: Check your recent subscribers*, read 21 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7280745?hl=en). Subscriptions are private unless you changed that, so for most people there is no name to disappear.

## What the creator's numbers show

YouTube's analytics count unsubscribes, they do not list them. The developer reference defines the metric as “The number of times that users unsubscribed from a channel”, counted through “any mechanism through which users can unsubcribe” (*YouTube Analytics API: Metrics*, read 21 October 2026 — https://developers.google.com/youtube/analytics/metrics). Filtered to one video, it “only includes users who unsubscribed from the specified video's watch page”. So a creator can learn that a particular video lost subscribers, and how many. That reference describes counts only, with no field for who left.

The total also moves for reasons that have nothing to do with you. The creator help lists viewers “subscribing and unsubscribing to your channel normally”, spam removals and closed accounts among the reasons a count drops (*YouTube Help: Check your recent subscribers*, read 21 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7280745?hl=en). One fewer is not traceable to one person from the number alone.

## Is the creator notified?

No page we read says so. The recent-subscribers help and the analytics metrics reference above are the documents that describe what creators see about subscribers, and neither mentions any alert when someone leaves (*YouTube Help: Check your recent subscribers*, read 21 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7280745?hl=en). That is silence, not a denial, but it is the documented picture.

## When your name could be seen

With public subscriptions, YouTube says “Your account is listed in the Subscribers List for any channel you subscribe to” (*YouTube Help: Change your subscription privacy settings*, read 21 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7280190?hl=en). The recent-subscribers list only covers the last 28 days, so it is a window, not a register. *Our reading, not YouTube's wording:* a public subscriber who joined recently and then left would drop out of that list, and only a creator watching it closely would notice.

The privacy page names one moment that shows your subscription even when it is private: joining a subscriber-only live chat, or commenting where comments are limited to subscribers and members, lets other viewers “publicly see you’re subscribed to the channel” (same page). That is about being subscribed; the page says nothing about what those viewers see after you leave.

## If you might come back

Leaving resets your alerts for that channel. The subscribe help says “if you unsubscribe and then re-subscribe to a channel, your notification settings will be reset” (*YouTube Help: Subscribe to YouTube channels (iPhone)*, read 21 October 2026 — https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4489286?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS).
